Help for Depression
Depression is not to be taken lightly. It can totally ruin peoples lives and affect everyone in their close family. What people need to realise is that people suffering from depression can actually view life differently which inturn can make them feel isolated from other people.

Some signs of depression, but by no means all are: weight loss, disturbed sleep, unable to concentrate, tiredness, suicidal thoughts, self harming, lack of self esteem.

So what causes depression? Scientists have proved a genetic link for depression. People that have had close relatives suffering from depression have a more than 1-3 chance of suffering from depression themselves.

Chemistry is another natural cause of depression. Serotonin is a naturally produced Neurotransmitter. Your body also produces a stress hormone called cortisol. Depression can occur when there is an inbalance of Serotonin and Cortisol which causes an inbalance of other neurotransmitters.

Stressful lives produce extra Cortisol which causes a reduction in the production of Serotonin and thus causes depression.

Whatever has caused the depression, it can still have profound influence on the way you live your life. But how do you treat it? Medical practitioners are usually very quick to prescribe medication to help 'life your spirits', commonly known as anti-depressants. Unfortunately these can have some nasty side effects whilst taking them and some very unpleasant withdrawal effects when you stop the medication.

However, I am a firm believer that nature has a cure for all ills and treating depression is no different.

Relaxation in the form of meditation or yoga have been proven to help reduce anxiety and calm the mind. If done regularly they can also help alleviate depression.

Natural Herbal Remedies have been used for centuries with great success in reducing the symptoms of depression. The most common plant is St Johns Wort (Hypericum Perforatum), which has also earnt the nickname of 'natures prozac'. Passiflora is also one of natures best transquilizers.

more and more people are now turning to the natures own remedies. This is obviously because of their effectiveness in relieving the symptoms of depression but it balances the chemicals in the brain, it also rejuvenates the mind and body. They are also free of side effects both during use and after.

So if you do suffer from depression or just feel down on yourself and need something to perk you up then before you make a visit to the doctors and start pumping pharmaceutical drugs into your system, give the natural remedies a go - you may be very surprised by how fast they work and how good you will feel. All with no bad side effects.

I have written this article, amongst others, to try and highlight the beneficial properties of natural remedies.

Thanks for responding. I also know they work for all kinds of conditions. I just wish more people would try them BEFORE pumping pharmaceutical drugs into their bodies.
